Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to some common questions

With a little help from Google and from my own experiences travelling I’ve put together a list of frequently asked questions which I think will help you in making a
decision to travel to the USA and things to do when you’re there.

How many states are in the USA?

The United States of America is made up of 50 states. A full list of them can be read here: https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/how-many-states

Do you need a Visa to travel to the USA?

Traveling to the USA for tourism would need a visitor visa unless you qualify for the Visa Waiver Program. Tourism is a short visit for vacation, or visiting family and friends who live in the US. Working is NOT permitted.

Is it safe to travel on your own?

Yes and No. In general yes it is safe to travel alone to the US but I would be wary of exploring the more remote areas due to the vast size of the country. If you decide to do this have a contact and a plan should your phone run out of battery.

What should I prepare before my trip?

The two obvious ones are your Visa, and it’s absolutely imperative that you get travel insurance. Injuries sustained in the US could be VERY expensive, beware!

What’s the best time to book flights to get good deals?

This is really dependent on the destination and time of year, I always recommend checking https://www.google.com/flights/ or https://www.skyscanner.com/ first then http://www.seatguru.com/ before you book your seat.

Where should I get advise on travel insurance?
