Whether you’re planning a trip to go to Europe for several months or Asia for a few weeks, it’s essential to make sure that you get your packing in order. There’s nothing worse than finding yourself on a trip without something that you need.

Rather than scrambling and stressing abroad where you may not even speak the language, it’s ideal to be as prepared as possible. If you’re getting ready for a trip, take a look at some of the best tips for packing your bag.

Make a List

A list is one of the best ways to ensure that you don’t forget a single thing. If you’re a frequent traveler, you can pull the list out each time that you get ready to go on a trip.

It helps to separate your list into categories to help you remember the little things. Categories and subcategories make it more difficult to let things slip between the cracks. For example, having a section dedicated entirely to toiletries will ensure that you don’t forget your favorite razor.

Roll Your Clothes

One of the best ways to avoid over-stuffing your suitcase yet still being able to bring everything you might need is to roll your clothing.

Not only is rolling a space-saver, but it also means you won’t have to pull out the hotel iron when you arrive at your destination. The last thing you want to have to do is worry about wrinkles when all you want to do is hit the beach or grab dinner.

Pack Adapters

Not every country has the same electrical outlets. Unfortunately, this is a lesson that many people learn the hard way once they’ve arrived. It can be frustrating to realize that you can’t charge your phone or hair straightener.

Do a little research before you leave and ensure that you have the right adapters. Luckily, most of Europe has the same outlet and different types of wood, making it easy to pack only one type of plug.

Weigh Your Luggage Before Going To The Airport

Don’t be one of the unlucky people who finds themselves at the airport with a bag which exceeds weight limits. Rather than rolling the dice, weigh your bag before you go to the airport.

If your bag is even a few pounds over the weight limit, airlines won’t hesitate to charge you as much as $100 for luggage fees. Taking the time to weigh things at home before you go will save yourself money and stress.

If you find that your bag is slightly over, consider wearing all of your bulkiest and heaviest items on the plane. Remember, the heaviest things in your bag are shoes! Choose wisely!
