"Freeze-drying" is a unique process
that provides product
characteristics that cannot be
achieved with other processing
methods. Fresh or cooked foods are
flash frozen and then placed in
vacuum chambers that are as cold as
-50 F. As low level heat is applied,
the ice evaporates without going
back through the liquid phase. This
process called "sublimation",
removes approximately 98% of the
product's moisture, which prevents
the food from spoiling. The ultimate
for long term storage.
WHY IS FREEZE DRYING
IMPORTANT?
Freeze-drying provides very unique
benefits and advantages over other
food processing methods. Frozen
foods maintain fresh flavor, but
they must be kept frozen. Dehydrated
and canned foods are shelf stable,
but their high temperature
processing reduces their flavor,
texture, color and nutrients. Freeze
drying combines the best of these
processing methods-—it locks in the
freshness, color, texture and aroma
of frozen food while providing the
shelf stable convenience of
dehydrated or canned food.
HOW ARE FREEZE DRY
GUY TM
FOODS PACKED?
All our foods are packed for
extremely long term storage. This is
achieved through the Freeze Drying
process and without the need for
chemical preservatives. As per
government specification, at least
98% of the oxygen has been removed
for long term storage.
Heavy duty #10 cans are used for our
products with two exceptions. Eggs
are packed in #303 size cans and
Freeze Dried Compressed Peas, are
packed in heavy duty #2 1/2 size
cans. All products are packed 6 cans
per case except when noted.
TASTE, CONVENIENCE,
SECURITY
Freeze Dry GuyTM
freeze dried foods are delicious,
require little preparation, and will
taste just as fresh years from now
as they do today. Backpackers
consistently rate us #1 year after
year as the best tasting foods and
ease of preparation. We are often
asked why our foods are superior to
that of our competition.
The answer is simple. Freeze Dry Guy
foods start with the best fresh or
fresh-frozen foods which are
prepared, cooked and finally, freeze
dried. All the goodness, flavor and
taste are locked in just as if you
had prepared them at home. If you
want to store the best.... look no
further than Freeze Dry Guy.
ARE FREEZE DRIED FOODS EASY TO FIX?
In today's fast-paced life, we eat a
variety of convenient foods. From
fast food restaurants to
microwavable foods, we want quick,
great tasting meals our whole family
will love. This is where Freeze Dry
GuyTM leads
the field. Our freeze dried foods
are super easy to prepare - just add
hot water... wait about 10
minutes... and eat! Because little
or no cooking is needed, these foods
require much less water and fuel
than most fresh, frozen or
dehydrated foods (further conserving
these two precious commodities).
HOW DO I PREPARE
FREEZE DRY GUY FOODS?
Ground Beef Patties are raw and must
be cooked after rehydration. They
cook very quickly, about 1 minute
per side. Pork chops are raw
and only need to be cooked for about
45 seconds per side.
Chicken is precooked. Just add hot
water, wait 5 - 10 minutes and
presto, fresh, cooked chicken.
Cottage Cheese is made creamy by
adding cold water. Wait 20-30
minutes and it is ready to serve.
Cook Dehydrated Eggs in your
favorite omelet or enjoy scrambled.
These eggs are the finest dehydrated
egg I have ever eaten and they work
very well in baked goods too.
BEEF STEW ENTREES
We have several hundred U.S. Army
Long Range Patrol Rations available.
These tasty entrees are last year's
production. The Freeze Dried LRP
Ration is far superior to the old
C-Rations and better yet than the
newer MRE's. I have eaten lots of
them and can confirm the superior
quality of this product. This ration
entree contains approximately twice
the beef of the finest commercial
Freeze Dried Beef Stew made for
backpacking.
If you need to carry a lot of
lightweight, high protein, good
tasting food that's quick and easy
to prepare, there is NOTHING to
compare with the LRP Ration. Just
add 2/3 canteen cup (16 oz) of hot
water, wait 5 - 10 minutes and you
have a superb, hearty beef stew.
Shelf life is quoted at 5 years, but
I've eaten many that were 20 years
old and they were very fresh.
These will disappear quickly and you
don't want to miss out on this
excellent, very rare Freeze Dried
entree. The last time I saw these on
the civilian market was over 10
years ago. Please call in or confirm
your order via email for
availability.
Quantity: 20 entrees per case.
Dry Weight: 4.94 oz, Yield:
Approximately 21 oz. per entree. (An
MRE entree yields only 8 oz and
weighs 8 oz to carry).
Dimensions: Approximately 3 1/4
inches wide, 2 1/2 deep and 4 1/2
high. These entrees form a rectangle
that stack nicely in your rucksack
or bug out bag, thus allowing the
maximum amount of food in a small
area.
PEAS, COMPRESSED
This is one of the most amazing food
storage products you will ever buy
and it's absolutely the finest dried
Pea available. All I can say about
this one is Wow!
These peas are already cooked,
Freeze Dried and compressed. They
reconstitute in 10-15 minutes to
their full size and are generally
far superior in taste, texture and
nutritional value than the best
fresh frozen peas from the grocery
store.
Due to its excellent quality and
extreme compactness, this fine
product was primarily sold to the
U.S. Navy Submarine Service. You
have probably heard that the nuclear
submarine guys are fed quite well,
which in fact, they are. This is the
best dried pea available, about the
normal price of Freeze Dried and
less than 2/3 the price of a
dehydrated product.
When I was the Northern
California/Nevada Rep. and
Distributor for the largest Freeze
Dried food manufacturer in the
world, this identical product
retailed for $96 per case. That was
nearly 30 years ago. I have not seen
a comparable product offered on the
civilian market for many years, but
if available, it would retail for
$140 or more per case.
This product is nitrogen packed in 6
heavy duty #2 1/2 size cans per
case.
Yield: 25 1/2-cup servings per can,
150 1/2-cup servings per case
If you want to put a whole bunch of
peas in a very small space, then
this is the best item on the market.
My suggestion: Grab all you can of
this one; it is rarely available.
The last time I got my hands on this
product was about ten years ago. I
don't know when it will be available
again.
CAN SIZES
What do the #10, #303 and #2 1/2 can
numbers mean? These numbers indicate
the standard sizes for each can. A
#10 can generally holds 13 cups. The
#303 can holds 2 cups and the #2 1/2
container holds 3-1/2 cups - just
1/2 cup shy of a quart. Please
remember that these foods have been
freeze dried, with all moisture
removed. When reconstituted, these
foods will equal a LOT more than
what the container number indicates.
LONGEST SHELF-LIFE
Freeze Dry GuyTM
freeze dried foods are packed in
airtight 10 size cans. The cans are
nitrogen packed replacing air with
nitrogen. Each can is coated with a
protective enamel, including the
lid. This enamel helps protect the
can from the deteriorating elements
of oxygen and moisture. The contents
of the can are protected for many
years. Our foods will have the
longest shelf life available...in
excess of 30 years! as long as the
can is not opened or punctured. The
cans' contents are protected until
you are ready to open and use them.
After opening, we recommend using
the contents with a month or two for
best results and taste. Use a
re-sealable plastic lid between uses.
Treat any left over food as you
would fresh food.
QUALITY CONTROL
Freeze Dry GuyTM has a firm policy
to sell only the highest quality
food products from the cleanest,
most modern food processing plants.
Production facilities are USDA and
FDA approved and are continuously
inspected. Only the highest quality
meat, poultry, eggs and vegetables
are used - NO SUBSTITUTES.
USA Government Finest Issue
Emergency Freeze Dry Foods: The US
Government purchases back these
products periodically years after
issue, due to their consistently
high quality. Freeze Dry GuyTM
foods last in excess of 30 years
with proper storage without
preservatives or additives. —Freeze
