Attitude

Being a survivor takes a special kind of attitude .  This attitude consists of a balance of personal characteristics.  Much of it is ingrained in us and some is learned from experience.

Basically, among the human element their is a combination of these characteristics in two different types of attitudes and you know which are yours.

  1. Those types who live their lives day by day, never thinking about tomorrow.  They usually enjoy each day to its fullest and don't worry much about anything.  They usually don't save for a rainy day and have a 'tomorrow will take care of tomorrow attitude.  I am not saying this is bad.  These types usually don't get ulcers and they are usually pleasant to be around.  They are prepared for nothing however and when disaster hits, they either leave it all in the hands of fate, or God, or they improvise in whatever way they can, which is not always a good thing, when it involves being dependant on others for one's existence.   Many of these types of people tend to think that they are indestructible until they meet with personal disaster and even then sometimes they do not learn.

  2. Then there are those of us who have what I call the Girl Scout/Boy Scout syndrome.  These types are always thinking preparedness.  Some people think of these types as negative thinking people, because they think of the worst that can happen and prepare for it.  These are the types who save for a rainy day, make sure their vehicle has all it needs in it for a break down, and have a fire escape plan in their house along with fire extinguishers.  Without going into all the details, I think you get my drift.

These types always try to be personally prepared for whatever comes along and if they are true Scouts, they prepare for those who don't prepare for themselves as well.

Having said that, let me say this.  When disaster comes the worst disaster among disaster is the human element.  Those who are not prepared can quickly become your worst nightmare, especially if they are among those who have no morals or conscious and support an entitlement mentality.

Of course it is always ideal if neighbors pitch in to help each other, but depending on the disaster it doesn't always turn out to be the case, so even though it takes some effort, planning and putting some of that hard earned money into something one might never use, it is better to be prepared than not.  "Prepare for the worst and hope for the best."

Today, Americans along with people around the world are facing disastrous times.  I am however, going to concentrate mostly on America and the American condition because America is my home.  My husband and I have been preparing for years and we are still not as prepared as we want to be.  Part of that is due to the never ending attack against the people by this government who seems to be purposely trying to cripple this country.

Every time one thinks they are going to get ahead or accomplish anything, another rug is jerked out from under them in one form or another.  We are under the constant threat of tyranny as well as terrorism, which has come in many forms and is only in the infancy of its probable impact on the people of this nation.  To say that people should get prepared is an understatement, especially for those who have not taken the warning signs seriously.

At this late date in the epic of the New World Order attempted takeover of America, getting prepared for the coming disaster is not going to be as easy as say ten years ago.  Many people have already suffered life crippling disaster in their lives and their lifestyle has been enormously downgraded.  Many are homeless, out of work and have lost all that they have spent a lifetime working for.  Others are hanging on by a thread, praying that nothing else hits them.

No matter how bad it gets as long as one is alive, he or she can survive.  It is all about attitude and one must never give up hope.  There is always a way, maybe even a better way and once people get it, it can all turn around, so one must never give up.  When one gives up hope, he or she is finished.  Get mad, get tough, suck it up and make a pact with yourself and God that you will survive.  Repent your sins, open your heart and let God guide you and give you wisdom.

Think smart!  Think frugal and learn all the ways that you can get prepared for yourself and those that you love.  As you prepare, do it for yourself and at least one other person, a stranger whom you don't know.  If you do this, when the need is there you will find that it will be there in abundance.

These survival pages will be a continuing effort to guide those who want to get prepared.  There are many ways to prepare, with all sorts of budgets and effort.  Everyone needs to get a pioneer mentality again and learn how to rough it.  Lets face it, we are spoiled and we want what we want, but when times get tough, we better be prepared to rough it, or we won't survive it.

Those who are trying to take this nation down, think that we spoiled Americans cannot survive, that is what they are counting on.  Just remember, our forefathers traveled across this nation in covered wagons, cooked on camp fires and bathed in creeks.  We all have tough genes in us, we just have to remember if we are Levies or Wranglers.
